Six step skill building framework (full module in my Skool community):
Name it – A short kebab-case label that describes exactly what the skill does
Trigger – The description Claude reads to decide whether to load your skill; get this wrong and it won't activate
Outcome – Define what "done" looks like before writing a single instruction
Dependencies – Every tool, connector, reference file, or asset the skill needs to deliver that outcome
Step-by-step – The exact instructions Claude follows, in order, with clear human-in-the-loop moments
Edge cases – What happens when input is vague, missing, or unexpected; robust skills handle failure gracefully
